Consider the GLC plug-in hybrid when regular charging fits your routine
The GLC 350 e is the Mercedes option to investigate when you want plug-in-hybrid operation and can charge regularly. Compare its A$19,000 campaign-price premium over the GLC 200 against your expected use and full ownership costs. Fuel savings alone should not be assumed to repay that difference.
Use your own annual kilometres, expected electric-driving share, electricity tariff and petrol price. Include charging losses and any installation costs. A laboratory plug-in-hybrid consumption figure should not be treated as the fuel consumption of a car that is rarely charged.
One simple sensitivity check shows why the assumptions matter: at 12,000 km a year and A$2 per litre, each 1 L/100 km difference in petrol consumption is 120 litres, or A$240 a year.
